When to Call 9-1-1

9-1-1 should be used in emergency situations. An emergency is any situation that requires immediate assistance from the police, the fire department or an ambulance. If you are ever in doubt as to whether a situation is an emergency you should call 9-1-1.

In the event that the situation is not an emergency phone (412) 279-6911. Be advised that both the emergency 9-1-1 and non-emergency numbers go into the 9-1-1 center.

Please remember if you contact the Carnegie Police Department, you may not receive an answer because the officers are on the road and the secretary may be doing administrative work. The secretary cannot transfer calls to officers who out on patrol.

The best way to reach an officer is to call the non-emergency number and request an officer return your phone call. You may also email an individual officer. Click Here for Police Directory.
