Named after industrialist Andrew Carnegie, the Borough of Carnegie was established in 1894 and is located approximately five miles from downtown Pittsburgh in Allegheny County. The Borough offers a vibrant Main Street filled with restaurants, locally owned businesses, and galleries, along with culturally diverse neighborhoods. Carnegie is also the birthplace of Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Honus Wagner. The Historical Society of Carnegie celebrates the Borough’s rich heritage through a museum honoring Wagner, along with collections of local history and military artifacts. The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall is also home to the historic Captain Thomas Espy Post, a preserved Civil War veterans’ meeting room.
We are proud of our strong community, beautiful parks, wonderful library and music hall, amazing schools, and the dedicated people who make Carnegie a great place to work, live, and play.
